Expert Instruction

 

 

Pipe Major Massie holds the following teaching qualifications

 

The Pipe Majors Certificate (The Army School of Piping, Edinburgh, Scotland)

 

The Senior Teachers Certificate (The Institute of Piping, Glasgow, Scotland)

 

The Graduate Certificate  (The Institute of Piping, Glasgow, Scotland)

 

Advance Drill Instructors Course (The Guards Depot, Pirbright)

 

 

Pipe Major Massie is available to teach all levels of piping from complete beginner to advanced students.  His style of teaching is very much built on the traditional Style of instruction which focuses on complete mastery of the fundamentals (basic groundwork) and a full understanding of the musical structure of Bagpipe Music. Dress, deportment, and presentation are also a strong suit of Pipe-Major Massie He is available for Individual, group, or band lessons.

 

Fee Structure:

 

Individual lessons:

Individual lessons are $40.00 per hour.

    They are booked in packets of six lessons. The reason for this is that nothing meaningful can really be achieved in one or two lessons. Consistent, focused instruction and practice are the keys to success.

 

Group Lessons:

Group lessons are $20.00 per person per session.

    They are also booked in packets of six lessons. Group lessons can consist of between two and four individuals of similar capabilities and goals.

 

Band Instruction:

Band Instruction is $250.00 per Session.

    A session is usually the complete length the regular band practice or any part of the practice. It can include every aspect of band playing from individual instruction to complete band work. This would include:

Practice Chanter Sessions:

   * Basic Musicianship

   * Groundwork Mastery

   * Music Theory

   * Music Selection

   * Playing in Unison.

Band Sessions: (Bagpipe)

   * Basic Musicianship

   * Groundwork Mastery

   * Playing in Unison

   * Tuning and Tone development, (using both a meter and your ear)

   * Reed Selection and Manipulation

   * Bagpipe Maintainance

   * Dress, Deportment, and Presentation. (This would all fall under the heading of Drill)
